The Top 7 Historic Sites

Naturally, Park City provides plenty of history. Hailed as a town that’s a living history book, we compiled some of the top historic sites to visit and the history behind them. You can find a little something for everyone visiting these great sites!

1. Main Street Historic District

Take a stroll down main street and see the many historic buildings! A fire in 1898 caused the town to rebuild, but they did so in some of the most diverse styles from Victorian, Queen Anne, and Spanish Revival. More than 100 shops and 50 restaurants make up this wonderful district.

2. Utah Olympic Park

As many know, Utah hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002. Olympic Park is a real treat for those who love history and competition. Several events were hosted here in 2002 such as the bobsled, ski jump, and Nordic combined. Many Olympic athletes still train here, and the park has a bobsled track, lodge, ziplines, and an on-site museum of Olympic history!

3. Park City Museum

Found at Park City Hall, this museum houses the former basement jail along with permanent exhibits about the great fire, the history of mining in Park City, and many other tidbits about the town’s history. Due to the fire in 1898, the town also built Whistle Tower, which is attached to the museum, to warn residents of future fires.

4. Miner’s Hospital

Begun as a hospital and then a clinic before housing the library, the Miner’s Hospital is now a community center for Park City to enjoy. You can host corporate meetings, weddings, and parties at the venue. Surrounded by gardens and great scenery, it’s a venue you don’t want to miss!

5. Union Pacific Train Station

Now a restaurant owned by Rober Redford, the Union Pacific Train Station used to be a main stopping point for the mining in the town. Shipments would come and go from this piece of history and even accommodated passenger cars until the late-1970s.

6. McPolin Farm House And Barn

The White Barn is a landmark that marks the pathway into Park City down the corridor. The accompanying farm house is a highly sought spot for family pictures. Surrounding the farm, you can also find access to biking, hiking, and skiing trails with public access. Be sure to snap your shots for Instagram here!

7. High West’s National Garage

This historic site used to be a saloon and livery, where horses would be stabled that carried the ore from the mines. Now a favorite among locals and tourists, it is the world’s only gastro-distillery. You can find your favorite spirits and food right here!
